glassy!

Last weekend I had some friends over and we treated our good selves to some delicious mexican margaritas
I had no idea how easy it is to prepare those.

Here is my recipe:
2 cl Tequila (Jose Cuervo Silver)
2 cl Cointreau
4 cl freshly squeezed lemon juice
+ a bit of ice
+ salt on the rim of the glass

The secret ingredient here is to serve them in some pretty cocktail glasses. Lucky me I had just found these four beauties (four only 1 € each).

Talking about glasses here is another happy find - six colourful glasses that once belonged to my grandmother.

Aren't the colours just lovely?
These definitely cheer me up and remind me of summer drinks!

lusting lemons?

It's Friday and it's cold outside that means it is time for a special treat full of Vitamin C!
I have a brilliant Brazilian recipe for you that is full of sweetness and lemons.. and it is super easy to prepare!

You don't even need any equipment (which I don't have in my kitchen) to make this.

The most important ingredient is leite moça or Milchmädchen in german, which is sugared condensed milk...yummy!! Brazilians use it for lots of desserts! (I found it in Edeka)

Step 1: whisk together one cup of leite moca with one cup of cream. Then add fresh lemon juice - approx. 0.5 to 1 cup - until are happy with the taste and texture.

Step 2: Crush the cookies - I used half whole grain half normal cookies - then add some margarine and build a nice base for your lemon delight.

Then just leave your torta de limão  ouside if you live in a cold place like me or you store it in the fridge for about 4 hours.

Super easy, right?

chalky ideas

Confronted with a rather ugly egshell white fridge that did not combine with the steel of the kitchen cabinets I decided to try out that chalk paint!
I just cleaned the surface, then applied a very liquid primer (that I had already used on some kitchen walls), let it dry and started rolling on the chalk paint... I apllied three coats of chalk paint. Here's how it looks now:

 ...
I like it much better and now I can write down my shopping ot my to do list on the fridge..
Chalk paint usually comes in black and green, however you can experiment with your own custom coloured chalk paint if you like. I especially like the versatility of chalk paint, while many tend to use it somewhere in the kitchen there are many other possibilites.

Here are some inspirational images for using chalk board at home:

It can create a great contrast for white kitchens.

It compliments white porcellain and the shelves so nicely.

A sophisticated black an white combination:

If you are brave enough you can even paint a whole room in chalk board:

Impressive isn't it? Of course kids would love it!

I love MUJI!

Last week I accidentally passed by the Muji store in Munich (Fünf Höfe) and spent hours in there, fascinated by the simplistic and tranquil japanese design and all the clever little gadgets Eukalyptol.. check out the gloves that have sensors, so no need to take them off when using your iphone! While my friend bought this acrylic storage for her jewellry, I got the trio of refreshing essential oils - rosemary, eucalyptus and grapefruit.
